Xuefeng Zhao: Born in China, a naturalized US citizen, PhD in Biophysical Chemistry, UC Davis, 1993. Research IT in Iowa State University since 2004. Specialize in RNA-seq data analysis and molecular modelling in protein structure and function.

      Project Responsibility:  Data mining  about pathogensis of targeted diseases and functions of foods and ingredients; develop and publish cooking recipes; and the founder of FunctionalHealthyFoods.com.

      Philosophy for Cooking: Functional, Healthy, Easy, Quick and Economical. 

Anthony Song: Born in California. A senior at Iowa State University with a double major in Data Science and Chemistry and a minor in Biology, concentrating on Bioinformatics. Coaches Iowa State University Women’s Hockey (D2) Team and Adaptive Sports Iowa Sled Hockey Program since 2018.

      Project Responsibility: Molecular modelling on structure and function of proteins which are involved in the pathogensis in the targeted diseases. For example, I compare the bindings between furin and its various substrates.

      Philosophy for  Cooking:  Uses diversified spices and the colors of vegetables to stimulate appetite in order to reduce the intake of sugar and salt. 

Athena Song: Born in Ames, IA. A junior at Dyson College of Business, Cornell University, concentrating on accounting and business analysis. 

      Project Responsibility: Extracting data from World Health Organization Reports about Covid-19 and marketing.

Our recipes are developed through our research in data mining about the pathogensis of targeted diseases, such as Covid-19, obesity, and West Niles virus,  and the biological functions of common basic foods and ingredients. We share our cooking recipes as an informational source like any other online cooking recipes.  The cooking recipes should not be used as substitutes for the  professional medical treatments and vaccines.  Please consult your health providers regarding your medical issues. We do not hold any liability for  any (medical) issues regarding using our recipes, and we do not provide any consulting service to use our recipes.

Why do we market our web site?

If there is a profit generated from our web site, it will be donated to our local homeless shelter program where we reside and to researches on Alzheimer’s disease and  renewable plastics in the universities with which we are/were affiliated with.

Why do not we publish our results in a scientific journal?

  1. Our results are derived from data mining and  simulation, and not from clinical trials.
  2. We focus on the ways to combine and to cook our basic common foods and ingredients. They are not medicine and medicinal foods, and they should not be used as substitutes for any medication currently taken.
